My teaching philosophy
I believe that everyone deserves to have access to music education. Growing up with music changed my perspective about life and it helped me developed and grow as a person. I feel that one of my many calls in life is to share my passion for music with people and also create opportunities for everyone to have access to it!
During my time at both Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and HKU Utrecht Conservatorium, I developed a keen interest in pedagogy which gave me a number of opportunities to work with pupils in local schools and research about the benefits of music education in children’s development. After graduation, besides my performing career, I am also focusing on teaching flute, clarinet, saxophone and piano, as well as directing ensembles and flute choirs. I am really keen on expanding my teaching reputation and sharing the knowledge and musicianship I’ve gained throughout my studies and working experience.

Testimonials
“Miriam is one of the most open and reflective graduate teachers I have worked with. She naturally engages in a critical (but not too critical) conversation with herself during and after the teaching session and tailors her lessons to suit her students incredibly well. In particular, Heads of Music, students and parents have noticed the technical improvement of her flute students – which is matched really well with engaging repertoire and duets – and this is a real strength in Miriam’s teaching toolkit.“
