MY STORY

I grew up studying music at the College of Arts, city of Baia Mare, Romania. During my early years of discovering music, I took part in many national and international competitions, winning several prestigious awards and prizes. At the age of 17 I had the opportunity to perform Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D with the “Dinu Lipatti” Philharmonic Orchestra of Satu Mare, Romania.

In 2014, I was awarded a scholarship to study flute performance at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, with Jonathan Rimmer and Judy Hall. During my time at the Conservatoire, I enjoyed playing regularly in a variety of orchestral projects and performances as well as masterclasses with:  Sir James Galway & Jeanne Galwa, Karen Jones, Kevin Gowland, Marie Christine Zupancic, Robert Winn. Alongside my studies, I volunteered to work as part of the education department with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group. This gave me the chance to participate in a number of projects alongside CBSO and BCMG musicians by assisting children in the creating process of learning and composing music as part of Music Maze workshops and Shenley Academy Partnership Project, in West Midlands.

Half way through completing my Bachelor Degree, I decided to take a year off my studies to explore other aspects of being a musician, one of which being taking a job as a flute teacher at the College of Arts, Baia Mare, Romania. Alongside my teaching journey I attended masterclasses at the Flute Academy in Deva and Bistrița, having lessons with Agata Igras and Matei Ioachimescu. After this experience I discovered I gained a true interest in teaching and performing. I also had the opportunity to broaden my experiences by accepting the invitation to give a presentation about the similarities between music and architecture at Sky Hill, Carașeverin County in Romania.

During my last year studying at Conservatoire, I managed and organise my own project entitled ‘Romanian Portraits’, where I researched and explored the diverse aspects of Romanian traditions and culture through music and visual effects. This project was aimed to help and give the opportunity to the British public to discover and learn more about Romanian culture and music. After graduating from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in July 2019, I joined Berkshire Music Trust as a woodwind teacher where I provided instrumental lessons to young musicians and adults across Berkshire county.

In 2021 I was awarded a full scholarship to study my Masters Degree in Flute performance with Matei Ioachimescu at the Faculty of Music and Theatre in Timișoara, Romania. During my first year of masters I was involved in orchestral projects and ensembles where I performed as part of International Festival of New Music ‘Intrada’. I also had the pleasure to take part in masterclasses by Mario Caroli, Janos Balint and Eric Lamb. In 2022 I was awarded the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to study my final year of masters with Aldo Baerten at the HKU Utrecht Conservatorium in Netherlands.
